She invented SunHarvested CoolRooms—an eco-friendly, grid-less cooling system that keeps fruits and vegetables fresh three times longer than standard storage, completely without electricity! Her genius idea even won the prestigious Lexus Design Award India 2023.
How Does It Work?
The design is beautifully simple and relies on natural science rather than complex machinery. As shown in the technical layout in 1000270434.jpg, it consists of three main parts:
*A Brick Room: The main structure where the produce is safely stored.
*An Exhaust Chimney & Draft Tube: A specially designed system made of a wooden tray lined with aluminum sheets, aluminum grids, and arched glass.
*Natural Elements: It uses convection currents (the way air naturally moves when temperatures change), water, and a screen of khus roots to perfectly balance temperature and humidity.
When the sun beats down, the aluminum sheets absorb the heat and create a pressure void. This pulls cool, humid air directly into the brick room.
